NEW YORK, Dec. 7, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte announced that it has achieved the top position on The Vault Accounting 50, a new ranking to determine the best companies to work for in the industry.
The ranking reflects Vault's proprietary methodology that balances organizational prestige, along with organizational culture and quality of life. As part of Vault's annual Accounting Survey, more than 2,200 accounting professionals at all levels were asked to assess the prestige of other accounting firms as well as their own company's culture.
"The emphasis placed on 'quality of life' in Vault's survey underscores Deloitte's approach to career-life fit, and knowing that our professionals shared their honest feedback as part of this ranking absolutely sets us apart," said Cathy Benko, chief talent officer, Deloitte LLP. "At Deloitte, the ability to fit life into work and work into life while growing professionally is central to our high-performance culture."
The survey indicated those outside of Deloitte almost unanimously see the organization as "very prestigious," "top of the line, "and filled with a "strong reputation for excellence." Similarly, many Deloitte employees cited its commitment to training as its best asset.
Deloitte's high performance culture is driven by its emphasis on programs that support career life fit and growth and development including:
- Deloitte University, a $300 million state-of-the-art center set to open in 2011, which was established to foster personal and professional growth at Deloitte

- A multi-faceted Community Involvement strategy that includes a $50 million commitment to providing pro-bono services to help eligible non-profit organizations address their business challenges, and a focus on building a college-going culture in low-income high schools.
Additionally, Deloitte's consulting practice has been recognized in a series of recent Vault rankings that include The Vault Consulting 50 (ranked No.6 ), and The Vault Technology Consulting 25 (ranked No.3), which identify the best consulting firms to work for. Deloitte was also ranked No.5 in Vault's Top 50 Consulting Prestige Rankings.
