Delta TechOps, 402nd MXW-Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, SR Technics, and Veracity Technology Solutions Win MRO of the Year Awards from AVIATION WEEK

PHOENIX, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- AVIATION WEEK has awarded its 2010 MRO of the Year Awards for outstanding achievement and innovation in aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) to four industry leaders: Delta TechOps, the 402nd Maintenance Wing at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, SR Technics, and Veracity Technology Solutions. These prestigious annual industry awards, presented by Overhaul & Maintenance, honor the top MRO and aftermarket companies in the world and were presented in conjunction with the Air Transport Association's (ATA) 43rd annual "Nuts and Bolts" Awards at a ceremony during AVIATION WEEK's MRO Americas Conference and Exhibition at the Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona.

Delta TechOps, winner in the Airline Maintenance category, successfully integrated its maintenance operation — including work groups, compliance/safety systems, logistics and operations — with that of Northwest Airlines after announcing the two carriers' merger in October 2008. The Military MRO winner, the 402nd Maintenance Wing at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, increased efficiency by embedding its program management and materiel support into production activities — thus transforming its C-17 heavy maintenance and modification processes and raising due-date performance to 97.2%. SR Technics, the Independent MRO award winner, developed an innovative new process for airframe and engine maintenance, called the E-check, which reduces costs and downtime.  Veracity Technology Solutions, the Supplier/Service Provider winner, developed a new inspection method that provides significant time and cost savings for Air Force inspections of large military aircraft using an in-situ 128-element linear array ultrasonic imaging system instead of the previous x-ray method.

The ATA "Nuts and Bolts" Awards, which recognize outstanding service and contributions to the airline industry, went to Amos W. Hoggard, technical fellow at the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group (Industry category), and Edward M. Walton, structures and liaison engineering manager at UPS Airlines and chairman of the ATA Airworthiness Committee (Airline category).  The two groups, AVIATION WEEK and ATA, have partnered since 2001 to bring the joint awards ceremony to MRO Americas, facilitating incomparable networking opportunities for participants and aviation industry leaders.
