BROOMFIELD, Colo., Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Webroot, the market leader in intelligent cybersecurity for endpoints and collective threat intelligence, today announced highlights from its first fiscal quarter operations, which ended September 30, 2015. Among the achievements for the quarter were significant growth across all business segments, driven by strong customer demand for Webroot SecureAnywhere® solutions and substantial increase in channel and MSP partnerships. The company also introduced new security innovations and industry-leading research during the quarter.
Double-digit Growth in New Business Continues
Webroot's first fiscal quarter saw strong bookings growth. The addition of new customers fueled double-digit, year-over-year growth across the company's target markets. Bookings from new business grew 29 percent in the OEM segment, 46 percent in the business segment and 16 percent in the consumer segment compared to the first fiscal quarter of 2015. This new business resulted in the addition of over 1.3 million new home users, over 453,000 new business endpoints, and over 700 new MSP partners during the quarter.
"Our first quarter double-digit revenue growth demonstrates a significant shift in the industry to adopt our Smarter Cybersecurity approach," said Dick Williams, Webroot CEO. "Building on the record growth we posted in FY15, we have started FY16 with strong results in all segments and in all regions. We enter this quarter with solid pipelines in all segments and with new product offerings that will enable us to ramp up throughout the remainder of the year."
New Security Innovation Introduced
The introduction of the Webroot® IoT Security Toolkit enables Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution designers and system integrators to integrate cloud-based, real-time threat intelligence services and intelligent cybersecurity device agents to protect critical systems against modern malware, zero-day exploits and other external threats and internal vulnerabilities. As a result, next-generation devices, gateways, servers, or IoT networks can be monitored and protected.
Strategic Security Alliances and Partnerships
With constantly changing security threats, the Webroot IoT Security Toolkit is now offered as part of the LynxSecure Hypervisor secure virtual space. Webroot and Lynx Software are combining unique security technologies that enable developers to build advanced threat detection and protection into IoT and IIoT devices. This allows for detection, identification, and containment of threats without the constraints or risks that come from running solutions at the operating system level.
Menlo Security has integrated the Webroot BrightCloud® Web Classification Service into its Menlo Security Isolation Platform. The URL classification information provided by Webroot delivers a key component of Menlo Security Web Isolation Service, enabling robust forensic and policy abilities, crucial for IT and security professionals.
Channel Focus Fuels International Expansion
With increased headlines of major breaches at retailers, financial institutions, and technology companies, Webroot solutions are proving to be very effective at protecting businesses against the latest security threats. As a result of Webroot's proven, scalable protection, enterprises, MSPs, and industry-leading distributors, such as Exeed Limited, Distology, DNA Connect, and Mitsui Bussan Secure Direction (MBSD), have chosen Webroot as a premier partner.
With over 700 new MSP partners added during the quarter, Webroot's global business expansion is strengthening partners' product portfolio with Webroot SecureAnywhere® Business Endpoint Protection to help business customers benefit from improved malware detection, next generation endpoint protection, system performance, and overall productivity.
Webroot was chosen for the 2015 North American Cybersecurity for Robotics & Industrial Control Product Leadership Award for its comprehensive and next-generation approach to IoT cybersecurity. The award acknowledges Webroot's success in delivering innovative technologies that address cybersecurity threats that target the IIoT. Recipients of the award must strive to be best in class, and Webroot's innovation has placed it at the forefront of the industry.
Within the quarter, Webroot also released the results of its survey on Mothers' Perceptions about Their College Students' Online Safety, which came on the eve of National Cyber Security Awareness Month. The data showed that one in four moms report their child did not have a cybersecurity solution installed on their computer. When asked why, many (37 percent) responded that they "didn't think about it." Furthermore, of the 69 percent of moms who report their student does have security installed, 36 percent can't recall the name. Webroot will use this data to work with consumer organizations to educate parents and students on the risks of Internet use and ways to protect against infection and identity theft.
