Project Homeward Bound shows the step-by-step process of a home that was turned into a barrier free, safe living environment for the Army PFC Jeffery Taylor and his family.

Army PFC Jeffery Taylor served with the U.S. Army's 3^rd Infantry Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Taylor along with three of his crewmembers were operating a vehicle north of the Baghdad Airport when they came under enemy attack. Taylor was rescued and survived the attack but suffered significant injuries such as post traumatic stress, a Traumatic Brain Injury, nerve damage and hearing loss. Despite his injuries Taylor, his wife Tracy and their three children are enjoying their newly remodeled and renovated home to support the family and their needs.

The 2,300 square foot, ranch-style house was renovated under the guidance of General Contractor Robert Miller from RTF Construction. Thanks to countless volunteers from Jacksonville GE Aviation Veterans Network and members from the Navy Ship USS Taylor (FFG – 50) renovations were completed in 30 days. Volunteers from Bank of America and other business groups helped get the home ready for the Designing Spaces team to film their three part Homeward Bound Series.

"The renovated home is a hand up and not a hand out," said John Gallina, Purple Heart Homes Co-founder. "Taylor is paying a mortgage of 50 percent of the home's market value."

Background: Bank of America partners with Purple Heart Homes to identify and donate properties in its inventory that are in locations where a Service Connected Disabled Veteran is in need of a housing solution. Purple Heart Homes than works with third party contractors to modify homes based on the needs the individuals and their families.

Lifetime Television's Designing Spaces will air the three part Homeward Bound Series starting Wednesday, September 25- Friday September 27 at 7:30 AM.
