DET-IX Enhances Infrastructure with Arista 7060X5 Series Switches

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Internet Exchange (DET-iX), Michigan's largest not-for-profit internet exchange, is proud to announce a major infrastructure upgrade featuring Arista Networks' state-of-the-art 7060X5 series switches. This investment marks a key step in DET-iX's ongoing mission to deliver high-speed, low-latency interconnection services to its expanding member community.

DET-iX recently surpassed 2.5 terabits per second of peak traffic for the first time—highlighting the increasing need for robust, scalable infrastructure to support the state's digital ecosystem.

As part of the upgrade, DET-iX has integrated two Arista 7060DX5-32 switches into its core infrastructure. Key features include:

• 32 x 400GbE QSFP-DD ports
• 12.8 Tbps of wire-speed throughput
• Latency as low as 825 nanoseconds
• 57 MB shared packet buffer

These switches also support flexible breakout configurations, allowing for up to 128 x 100GbE ports per device. With this enhancement, DET-iX now delivers a total switching capacity of 25.6 Tbps, ensuring ample headroom for traffic growth with enhanced scalability, reliability, improved network resilience, and better member connectivity options.
