Dickey's Barbecue Pit Will Open in Greeley This Summer

GREELEY, Colo., June 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jennifer and Derek O'Hara will open their first Dickey's Barbecue Pit, the largest quick-serve barbecue chain in the country, in Greeley at 2331 23rd Avenue.

"Dickey's will be centrally located in Greeley and able to serve the entire community of residents, businesses and the student/staff population of the University of Northern Colorado," said Derek, who will run the restaurant with his wife, Jennifer.

Derek set his sights on owning a restaurant years ago and is excited to launch his dream.

"Derek traveled to Dallas at least once a week for quite a few years and quickly discovered Dickey's Barbecue Pit on those trips. We both thought Colorado could use some pit-smoked barbecue!" said Jennifer O'Hara, co-owner/operator of this new location.

This is the first Dickey's franchise opportunity for the couple, who have lived in Greeley since 1998.

"It's great barbecue and an affordable, great place for families.  Free ice cream every day and kids eat free on Sundays!" said franchisee Derek, who is originally from England.

Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994. Dickey's Barbecue Pit is well-known for their pit-smoked signature meats, complimentary ice cream and the big yellow cups.

The original Dallas location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue Pit is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
