Dickey's Barbecue to Offer Customers Free Spicy Cheddar Sausage Samples Friday

DALLAS, Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit announces a Spicy Cheddar Sausage Sample Day—offering customers a chance to try their new limited time product free at all locations coast to coast.

"We know many of our customers are creatures of habit. I know I am," Dickey's Marketing Director Jeff Gruber said. "So we are giving people a chance to try Spicy Cheddar Sausage for free. Once they try it, they will love it and order it again and again. We have seen this in locations where we have tested the product. It's a great product. It's getting people to try new things that is always a challenge—this is how we will overcome that hurdle and in turn we will show our customers how much we appreciate their continued business."

The Sample Day offer is while supplies last, so chain officials encourage folks to show up early on Friday, January 28th.

Samples will be given out for free from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

"We are expecting this to be a great event for us and our customers," Gruber said.

Spicy Cheddar Sausage is a new twist on Dickey's Polish Sausage, a customer favorite.

In development, Corporate Chef Tyler Riddle, tried a multitude of spices, peppers and cheeses in their raw state to ensure the best quality.

"Creating this new product was truly a labor of love," Chef Riddle said. "At Dickey's we are very serious about the quality of our meat. Meat is our specialty, so it was quite a task to develop something new that was worthy of the Dickey's brand. I am confident that in Spicy Cheddar Sausage, we achieved just that."

After testing the sausage in various locations, the overwhelming customer response made the need to push this product system-wide evident, according to the Chef.

"People love it," he said.

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Dickey's only began franchising in 1994.

There are 139 locations in 33 states to date, with 60 more locations in the pipeline, set to open in early 2011.

Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
