NEW YORK, Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dimension Data, the $5.8 billion global ICT solutions and services provider, today announced the addition of four new global cloud data centers to address the ongoing demand for enterprise-class cloud services. The new facilities bring the total number of Managed Cloud Platform (MCP) locations to 11, with multiple data centers in each of the Americas, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Australia regions.
Dimension Data's MCPs host the company's public cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and managed hosting services. Each MCP provides end-users with low-latency access to secure, reliable, enterprise-class public, private and hosted private cloud services. Dimension Data MCP locations include: San Jose, Calif. and Ashburn, Va., U.S.; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Sydney, Australia; Johannesburg, South Africa; Tokyo, Japan and Hong Kong, China.
Steve Nola, CEO of Dimension Data's cloud business unit, said: "The addition of these four key MCP locations adds capacity to the United States, Australia and Europe, where our client base is growing rapidly and requires multiple cloud data centers to support business continuity, backup and replication within the region. Sao Paulo, as Dimension Data's first MCP in South America, will create availability for global enterprises to locate data in this region."
Services will become available at the MCP locations as follows:
Ashburn, Virginia – second site is currently available
Melbourne, Australia – November 2013
London, U.K. – January 2014
Sao Paulo, Brazil – January 2014
Dimension Data offers public and private cloud Compute-as-a-Service (CaaS) solutions that provide high performance self-service, cloud-based compute, storage and networking resources. Unlike best effort cloud providers, Dimension Data provides cloud services with strong service level agreements (SLAs), configurable networking and security, and high performance systems to support production software-as-as-service (SaaS) and web applications, enterprise applications such as SAP, as well as testing and development.
Nola continued: "Best-effort cloud providers do not meet the data sovereignty and security needs of global enterprises. By continuing to expand our footprint of global network-centric cloud availability, Dimension Data is helping our clients to leverage the cloud for enterprise and web applications globally."
All Dimension Data public MCPs are enterprise-ready, offering multiple layers of security, administrative controls, 99.99% availability SLAs on public cloud, 24/7 phone support and integrated management capabilities.
