NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul Companies of Southern Louisiana and Northern Louisiana are offering 30 days of free self-storage to residents who stand to be impacted by Tropical Storm Harvey's winds and rains.
Harvey is expected to dump at least four inches of rain on New Orleans, and other cities will remain under a flash-flood watch over the next two days.
"(New Orleans) Mayor Mitch Landrieu is suggesting people stay home and out of the storms," said Patrick Allen, U-Haul Company of Southern Louisiana president. "Schools are closed and many are bracing for flooding. As a caring member of our communities, U-Haul is assisting by giving families a secure and dry place to store their belongings for 30 days at no cost."
Twelve U-Haul facilities across nine cities are available to take part in the free self-storage offer. People seeking additional information about the disaster relief program or needing to make self-storage arrangements should contact the nearest participating location:
U-Haul stores offer needed supplies to help with recovery like boxes, tarps, propane and propane tanks. U-Haul urges customers to ensure their tanks are topped off since propane is good to have in the event of long-term power outages.
