Discovery Point Child Care Franchises, Set to Open Second Lakewood Ranch, FL Center

SARASOTA, Fla., Sept. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Discovery Point Child Development Centers, a leading educational childcare franchise, has announced the start of construction on a new location in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Since 1988, Discovery Point has grown to serve more than 35 communities across the Southeast, with established centers in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

The upcoming 12,000-square-foot Lakewood Ranch facility will feature 11 classrooms designed to serve children from infancy through school age, including Before and After School programs and Summer Camp. The new center will be owned and operated by longtime residents Dr. Roger and Robin Clough, who successfully opened Discovery Point Twelve Oaks in Bradenton in December 2020. That center quickly grew to capacity and became a trusted choice for families in the community.

Childcare is truly a family passion for the Cloughs. Their daughter, McKenzie Clough, a graduate of the University of Tampa, joined the Twelve Oaks location as Assistant Director in January 2024 and will help manage the Lakewood Ranch center as well. Their son, Owen, also a University of Tampa student, works at Twelve Oaks as a Summer Camp Assistant Teacher and supports the center whenever he is home from college. This marks his third year in the role.
