Don Gato Is Bringing His Legendary Tequila to Chicago with the Help of Danny McBride

While some may know of the larger-than-life Don Gato as the legendary luchador who never lost a match, his true legacy in the U.S. is now defined by his sought-after tequila. Lifelong Don Gato fan Danny McBride spent significant time in Mexico documenting the legend's story, leading to a series of tequila sagas that showcase Don Gato's passions, tequila artistry, and random party acumen. Directed by his film school classmate David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Halloween), these sagas feature McBride, his friend Steve, and, of course, the one and only Don Gato.

Tequila Don Gato is made from 100% blue agave, harvested at peak maturity in the Lowlands of Jalisco. It is currently available in two award-winning expressions:

• Blanco (SRP $39.99): Gold Medalist, 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition
• Reposado (SRP $44.99): Gold Medalist and 95-point rating, 2024 New York International Spirits Competition. Bottle Raiders recently named it one of the "5 Best New Tequilas Under $60."

Tequila Don Gato's launch in Illinois coincides with a major summer refresh at Fat Rosie's, a lively Mexican restaurant group known for its bold energy and celebration culture. As part of their new "Fluent in Fiesta" brand experience, Fat Rosie's has introduced a custom cocktail—the Oh My Gato!—featuring Don Gato Blanco, pineapple juice, rum, and curaçao with a tajín rim. Don Gato himself will be making appearances at several Fat Rosie's locations on National Tequila Day, continuing his mission to bring premium tequila—and absurd levels of cool times—to new audiences.
