doTERRA Joins Nicholas's Fight Song

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Dec. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nicholas is a five-year-old who loves to be with his mom, carry his stuffed elephant everywhere, and sing his favorite song—"Fight Song." It just so happens that when he sings every memorized word to this tune, he not only means it, he lives it. Nicholas is a cancer fighter, and he and his mom, Christine Weideman, are fighting through this battle together. 

Not long after Nicholas was born, Christine began noticing that he was experiencing a lot of pain. The muscles in his body began to weaken causing the normal progression of sitting, crawling, and walking to come to a halt. Nicholas even began to make "pain" faces when he was picked up. After many trips to the doctor, Christine was informed that her son had a rare cancerous tumor in his spinal cord called Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma, grade II. 

In an effort to support Christine and Nicholas in their fight against this cancer, doTERRA donated to the Nicholas' Fight fundraiser event. This special event was dedicated to support Christine and Nicholas during this difficult time. One of the evening's main events included a raffle in which donated items, like that from doTERRA, were raffled off. All of the proceeds from the raffle and from the Nicholas' Fight fundraiser went to help Nicholas fight this cancer. 

Since she found out about her son's cancer, Christine and Nicholas have been in and out of chemotherapy appointments and he has undergone two major surgeries. The tumor is highly aggressive and has regrown along the length of his spinal cord, leaving Nicholas to suffer painful consequences as he endures the many hours of treatments and leaving Christine to face the financial burdens that have come their way. 

The Nicholas' Fight event and donations made to Christine and Nicholas are showing their family that they are not singing their "fight song" alone, but rather, joining a community of people singing alongside them. This financial and emotional support is giving them the courage to keep fighting with the hope that someday soon Nicholas can have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy and full life.
