One Year After Filming, Veterans and First Responders Reflect on Their PTSD Healing Journey

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The weekend of August 9 marked a powerful milestone for Healing Heroes — No Mind Left Behind, as cast members, crew, and producer-creator Charles "Dr. Charlie" Powell, MD, reunited in Austin at 12 Fox Brewery to reflect on the film one year after filming. A veteran-owned and operated gathering place, 12 Fox is also home to weekly "Fireside Chats," where service members, first responders, and frontline workers come together to share experiences and rebuild community.

The film follows six American veterans and first responders living with PTSD, a condition affecting millions of Americans. Their journey took them outside the U.S. into a 10-day program that combined plant-based psychedelic medicines with intensive therapy, counseling, and training. This program not only yielded results but gave these heroes the tools to continue moving forward. For many, it provided the breakthroughs where traditional western medicine failed.

Participants Ryan, Lynn, Keegan, Courtney, and Megan, spoke candidly about the past year and acknowledged ongoing challenges, but also shared victories they once thought impossible. They described living more balanced lives, rebuilding relationships, and finding new purpose. That healing was reflected in deeply personal milestones, with Megan preparing to welcome her first child and Courtney's recent marriage.
