Dr. Guttman Discusses the Patent Examiner Perspective

CINCINNATI, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Harry J. Guttman, Esq., Patent Attorney with Stipkala LLC, participated in a panel discussion at the Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Association's October 12, 2010, meeting.  Himself a former patent examiner, Dr. Guttman offered his views at the event entitled "The Examiner's Perspective on Patent and Trademark Prosecution."  Dr. Guttman highlighted best practices when handling a client's patent application before a patent examiner.  He and fellow panel members explored the USPTO's organization, examiner training, the examiner's perspective and time constraints, examiner pet peeves, and how interviews can advance a client's patent application to an issued patent.  The panel also discussed how the inventor can significantly help the patent lawyer obtain an issued patent.  

Dr. Guttman earned his Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and his law degree with honors from The George Washington University Law School.
