Dr. Harry J. Guttman, Patent Attorney, Coordinates Small Chemical Business Session at Regional ACS Meeting

CINCINNATI, Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Harry J. Guttman, patent attorney with Stipkala LLC, served as a session coordinator and guest speaker at the 2011 Midwest and Great Lakes Joint Regional Meeting (MWRM - GLRM) of the American Chemical Society (ACS) held in St. Louis, Missouri, October 19-22, 2011.  

Dr. Guttman coordinated two half-day sessions, "What Every Small Business Owner Needs to Know about Patents, Trademarks, and Intellectual Property:  Parts 1 and 2," for the Division of Small Chemical Businesses at the Joint Regional ACS meeting.  

Dr. Guttman led off the day with his presentation entitled "Small Business IP:  Red flags and core concepts."  The balance of the presentations highlighted specific intellectual property issues of interest to small business owners, including a presentation by Dr. Guttman's colleague, Dr. Jeremy M. Stipkala.  Dr. Stipkala's presentation provided an overview of the recent patent law reform legislation, the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, for academic and entrepreneurial scientists.  The capstone event of the session was the closing panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Guttman, which provided an opportunity for attendees to participate in in-depth discussions with the presenters.
