Dr. Lee Newman awarded AOHP National Award for Exceptional Member
WESTMINSTER, Colo., Oct. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of Occupational Health Professionals (AOHP) honors Axion Health's, Dr. Lee Newman, with the 2013 National Award for Exceptional Member.

The 32nd AOHP national conference was held at the Hilton-Lake Buena Vista Hotel in Orlando Florida from Sept 11-14, 2013. During the Thursday luncheon, the AOHP Board of Directors surprised Dr. Newman with the 2013 National Award for Exceptional Member. This award recognizes an Association member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership. AOHP selected Dr. Newman in recognition of his commitment to the AOHP vision and mission. Most notably, Dr. Newman helped attract nationally recognized speakers for the 2013 national conference.
Dr. Newman also spoke during the 2013 AOHP conference on topics ranging from hazardous material exposures to the benefits of company wellness programs. His presentation, "Making Magic Happen: Worksite Wellness, a Key Building Block to Improving Health and Productivity of the National Workforce" drew a crowd of over 150 attendees during the final morning of the conference.
Dr. Lee Newman is a Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) and in the School of Medicine, University of Colorado. As Director of the Center for Worker Health and Environment, CSPH, he leads research and community outreach programs on health promotion and occupational health and safety. He has more than 25 years of experience in research, teaching and clinical practice, including educating graduate students, occupational health professionals and employers on worksite wellness and occupational health. He is the founding director of the NIOSH funded Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center. Dr. Newman is a founding officer of Axion Health and now serves as the company's Chief Medical Information Officer.
