Dr. Mike Evans: "We should Fight Terrorists by Defining them as 'Infidels' and not 'radical jihadists'. Playing the "Radical Islam Card" Only Benefits the jihadists"
NEW YORK, Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With debates and statements heating up as elections get closer, it seems that no Republican presidential candidate debate would be complete without a lecture on radical Islam. It implies that America should be at war with radical Islam.
Dr. Mike Evans, a celebrated author and a strong member of the Republican Party, who spent decades in the Middle East, is convinced that playing the "radical Islam card" only benefits the jihadists. In his new essay, published in Jerusalem Post last week, and contrast to popular republican views, he realized that in today's world "He who defines the terms controls the debate." And that it is an ideological war that America must fight.
By definition, "Radical" to the Muslim world means "Salafi." "Salafi" (Arabic for ancestor) and "Islam" (submission) provide the entire basis for the Islamic religion and for Sharia law. Ninety- nine percent of all suicide bombers are Salafist Muslims. Salafism is the purest form of radical religion. Radical means fundamental and goes to the root of Salafism.
To declare war on radical Islam is to declare war on all Islam, since 60 percent of all Muslims are fundamentalist, radical Salafists – no less than 750 million Muslims, including countries like Turkey, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt. It's exactly what jihadists want.
Twenty-first century wars are ideological, economic, media-driven proxy wars. Evans has come up with a few solutions as to how such a war should be fought on the American part.
First and foremost, with semantics as a weapon: It is much wiser to define all jihadists as "Islamic infidels" and control the terms of the ideological war.
Not all Arabs want to blow themselves up; the vast majority of Muslims are not jihadists. In the Muslim world, calling someone honorable is the highest compliment and humiliation is worse than death.
To humiliate, according to Evans, a terrorist should not be mentioned by name at all. Instead of being acknowledged as a radical Islamic jihadist describe them as "Islamic infidels." The jihadists are at war with the infidels, and would not want to be labeled as one.
The second angle Evans wishes to change in American perspective is that since 9/11, America has focused on who kills us, but not on why they kill. The answer is always the same: They believe we are infidels. The Islamic infidel card should be played on them, and the Muslim world be persuaded to join, especially since the majority of those whom jihadists kill are Muslim.
Thirdly, the US must fight a special ops war, including in the media, targeted on uprooting the perception that America is a Goliath to the Islamic David.
Fourthly, Islamic infidels must be bankrupted. Currently, the Islamic state of Iran receives $150 billion compliments of the US, and Turkey and even Jordan are buying IS oil.
Finally, Evans believes that the US must employ Israel as a strategic proxy. Israel helped America win the Cold War in the Middle East without the US sacrificing lives. Israel can assist the US with defeating ISIS.
