Dr. Trudy Golub-Sowers Named Recipient of ACCSC's 2026 Commitment to Education Award

Platt College faculty member recognized for advancing student success in veterinary technology

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Platt College is proud to announce that Dr. Trudy Golub-Sowers, DVM, Clinical Director of Veterinary Technology at its Riverside campus, is the 2026 recipient of the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges' (ACCSC) Commitment to Education Award. The award recognizes her sustained dedication to student success. She will be honored at ACCSC's Professional Development Conference, taking place September 16–18 in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Golub-Sowers' contributions to Platt's Veterinary Technology programs extend well beyond her regular teaching responsibilities. She works closely with graduates preparing for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), helping support strong and steadily improving first-time pass rates. She has also expanded student externship opportunities through new clinical partnerships, including an emergency veterinary hospital and a local equine hospital. In addition to her work at Platt, she continues to practice veterinary medicine each week, remaining actively involved in patient care and supporting their pet parents. This ongoing clinical experience enables her to bring current, real-world veterinary knowledge and firsthand field experiences into the classroom, helping students connect academic concepts with practical application. She also regularly volunteers alongside students at community veterinary service clinics and outreach events serving economically disadvantaged communities through the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association and other organizations.

Platt College's Veterinary Technology Associate of Science degree is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and is offered at campuses in Alhambra, Anaheim, Ontario, and Riverside, as well as through Distance Education.
