Draeger Infinity M300 Patient-Worn Monitors Help Improve Patient Care at Kaweah Delta Medical Center

TELFORD, Pa., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- To enhance patient care management, Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, Calif., selected the wireless Draeger Infinity M300 patient-worn (telemetry) monitor. This Wi-Fi based solution provides access to vital signs data, both at the patient site and the central nursing station – enabling rapid assessment and decision support to achieve the best patient outcomes. Two-way communication with the Infinity CentralStation, which is fully networked with the hospital information system, supports comprehensive data sharing.

Industry-standard Wi-Fi networking

Infinity M300 units replaced Kaweah Delta's aging telemetry monitors from a different manufacturer that ran on a proprietary network. Infinity M300 devices connect to the hospital's wireless network via Draeger's Infinity OneNet infrastructure, which lets the hospital securely move life-critical patient data on its existing network. This eliminated the need to install additional network components – streamlining network management and saving the expense of maintaining a separate wireless network for the telemetry system.

Kaweah Delta Medical Center has also installed Draeger bedside monitors hospital-wide, all of which are connected to the Infinity CentralStation over the Infinity Network. "The addition of the M300 to our existing Infinity CentralStation solution completes our vision of having one single network with everything using that network," said Dave Gravender, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Kaweah Delta Health Care District.

Process improvement yields cost savings

The hospital was able to realize substantial savings as a result of having a conventional wireless LAN infrastructure by moving from individual centrals on each of its three telemetry monitoring units to one central telemetry room where any patient in the hospital can be monitored 24/7.

Supporting adult and pediatric patients, the Infinity M300 has a color display that shows ECG, heart rate and SpO2, integrated alarming that enables alarms to be heard and controlled at the patient site, and a built-in rechargeable battery.
