DTE Energy and Local 223 UWUA Union Leaders Reach Tentative Agreement
DETROIT, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- DTE Energy and Local 223, Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), DTE Energy's largest labor union, announced today that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract. After working long hours and bargaining through the weekend, the company and union representatives reached a tentative agreement that both parties believe is fair for Local 223 members and meets the company's goals to provide competitive wages and benefits for all employees.
"Despite having tough issues to tackle in these negotiations, both parties worked hard to stay focused on the end goal and were able to reach a deal prior to the contract expiration date," said Jim Harrison, President, Local 223, UWUA.
"We're proud that we were able to work together to achieve an outcome that values our employees, serves our customers and supports Michigan's economic recovery," added Larry Steward, DTE Energy Vice President, Human Resources. Local 223 represents some 3,900 employees at DTE Energy.
