CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) has named John Fremstad business development manager for the company's Business Development and Economic Development team.

He will be located in Orlando, Fla., and responsible for recruiting companies in the data center sector in Duke Energy's six-state service territory in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.

Fremstad spent the past decade as the vice president of KBR Building Group-Florida and vice president of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission. Notable Central Florida projects he led include the recruitment and/or construction of the Sanford Burnham Institute for Medical Research, University of Florida Research and Academic Center, JetBlue University, Electronic Arts, and the schools of medicine and interactive entertainment at the University of Central Florida.
He also founded bioOrlando, a company dedicated to accelerating growth in the bio/life sciences industry that helped make Central Florida a preferred destination for healthcare, life science, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
Fremstad has been a subject matter expert on economic and political trends on television news programs such as CNN, FOX News and MSNBC and has been featured in trade and industry publications ranging from BusinessWeek to PollStar.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska.
