CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) will hold a special meeting for shareholders Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. ET to vote on the company's proposed merger with Progress Energy. The proposed merger was announced Jan. 10.

The meeting will take place in O.J. Miller Auditorium in the company's offices at 526 South Church St.
Shareholders unable to attend the meeting in person have two options:
