PANAMA CITY, Fla., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective January 5th, Eugene "Gene" Cookson has joined Eagle-SWS as company President. He will be responsible for implementing a strategic plan focused on new market penetration, enhancing the current business development processes, improvements to planned project delivery, and growth initiatives.
Mr. Cookson has twenty plus years experience in the environmental services industry with a proven track record holding high level executive positions. The majority of the focus over his career has been in developing the field services, emergency response and the large scale project aspects of the environmental business.
Current CEO and former President James J. Weber, Jr. states, "We are very excited about starting 2010 with a new President dedicated to the vision of Eagle-SWS being the premier environmental service company in the United States. Gene's hiring will expedite our progress toward this goal."
Prior to joining Eagle-SWS, Gene served as a Senior Executive at Clean Harbors Environmental Services for nearly eighteen years. In 1998, Gene was promoted from Director of Sales to Senior Vice President of Sales & Operations, having direct oversight of all business development and operations and direct reporting to the CEO. By 2001, Gene was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and was a key contributor in the turnaround of what has become a leading provider of waste services.
Gene's career as an Executive also included President of the Site Services Business Unit and had management responsibility for all field service business units, the national strike team for emergency response and the remediation groups. As Executive Vice President of Business Line Management, Gene was responsible for the strategic growth of the Company business segment.
Gene recently completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School and holds a masters degree from Northeastern University in Civil/Environmental Engineering following completion of his B.S. degree from the University of New Hampshire.
With more than 20 years in the environmental industry as a senior level executive, Gene's experience, education, leadership and history will be the foundation for success as President of Eagle-SWS.
