Early Years Are Learning Years; Rasmussen College Celebrates The Week Of The Young Child

MINNEAPOLIS, April 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) are partnering to celebrate the 42^nd annual Week of the Young Child.  The theme for the designated week, April 14 to April 20: "Early Years Are Learning Years," aims to bring public attention to the needs of young children and their families, as well as recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

Rasmussen College campuses nationwide will host a series of events and activities to celebrate the Week of the Young Child, including book readings of Jonathan James and the What if Monster by Michelle Nelson-Schmidt. The book discusses the importance of children persevering during trying times and it was selected as a way to highlight the importance of developing resilience in children.

"Our children are not only being bullied in school, but now on social media.  More than ever before our children are exposed to tragedy and confronted with difficult situations," said Westby. "This has put a new spotlight on the need for parents and educators to prepare our children to develop coping skills to effectively meet and overcome difficult situations. We have a responsibility to help children develop the resilience to get through trying times."

Participating in Week of the Young Child is just one of the many ways Rasmussen College supports Early Childhood Education.
