ECI® and Sprint S.A. Partner to Deploy a Greenfield Broadband Network in Poland

ECI, a global provider of ELASTIC Network® solutions for service providers, utilities and data center operators, in partnership with Sprint S.A. one of the largest integrators in Poland delivering professional, carrier grade, end-to-end solutions to the country, announced today, that the companies have successfully deployed a greenfield broadband network in Sosnowiec, Poland.

The network in Sosnowiec is based on ECI's family of Packet-Optical transport solutions which combine high performance and low-latency with maximum efficiency. ECI provides a seamless, end-to-end solution for all services (Layers 1 - 3), all of which are managed simply and intuitively by ECI's, industry-proven, LightSOFT® network management system.

The $5.6 million project is part of a larger project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund called Development of Information Society in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie - Municipality Sosnowiec, 2007-2013. The project included the construction and organization of a fiber optic network, an IP-MPLS backbone, an access network and a network management center.

The project will ultimately provide local government and police infrastructures, academic institutions (kindergarten through university) and public institutions such as hospitals, sports arenas and cultural and arts centers, with the following broadband services:

• Internet access
• IP Telephony, Video Conferencing
• e-Commerce, e-Education, e-Government, e-Health
• Video Monitoring
