PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ECRI Institute, an independent nonprofit that researches the best approaches to improving patient care, is pleased to announce that Scott DiDonato will be a featured speaker at AHRMM's 52nd Annual Conference in Orlando, FL, on August 4, 2014.
DiDonato, a senior associate in ECRI Institute's applied solutions group, is co-presenting with Dennis Orthman, senior director at Strategic Marketplace Initiative (SMI), in a session titled, "Big Data: Beyond the Phrase." The presentation will address issues such as the current role big data has in healthcare, where it is going, and where it will make the biggest impact.
"Big data, while still in its infancy, is quickly becoming a way to cut costs and increase efficiencies," says DiDonato. "But we're also seeing and realizing tremendous opportunities for supply chain professionals to improve cost, quality, and outcomes by tapping into the wealth of data being collected from hospitals and patients alike."
DiDonato and Orthman will also delve into the effects big data has on patient care and outcomes, hospital operation efficiency, and the hospital supply chain. This session is part of AHRMM14's Technology Solutions track, which focuses on how the industry can and will benefit from the IT revolution.
Thomas E. Skorup, MBA, FACHE, vice president of applied solutions, ECRI Institute, will participate as a panelist at AHRMM14's Thought Leader Summit on August 4 in a session titled "CQO and Leveraging Technology."
ECRI Institute is exhibiting at AHRMM's 52nd Annual Conference and Exhibition in Booth #414, and will have experts available to answer questions about big data and the supply chain services it provides to hospitals and health systems. A free white paper, "Using Data-Driven Strategies for Immediate Cost Savings," will also be available at the ECRI Institute booth.
