Edaville Family Theme Park Opens Early for the Season

Massachusetts Residents Receive $10 Discount; Park Celebrates Autism Awareness Month

CARVER, Mass., April 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in its history, Edaville Family Theme Park, a renown amusement park, will open its doors early, kicking off the 2017 season on Saturday, April 8. Each year, hundreds of thousands visit Edaville to enjoy over 90 rides and attractions, including the park's acclaimed Thomas Land and Dino Land. To celebrate its rich legacy in the Bay State, Edaville is giving all Massachusetts residents $10 off admission through January 1, 2018. The early opening also brings with it an extensive calendar of events including the park's second annual Sensory Friendly Awareness Weekend taking place on April 22-23 as part of Edaville's ongoing commitment to raising awareness about autism during Autism Awareness Month.

"By extending the season and offering our neighbors in Massachusetts discounted admission, we are celebrating our long-standing relationship with families in our community and beyond."

This year, opening weekend will mark the return of the park's month-long Touch-A-Truck series where visitors are able to get up close and personal with a variety of specialty vehicles including professional race cars, tractor trailers, fire trucks and police cars as well as construction vehicles. This initiative is part of their sensory-friendly program for children of all developmental levels. Committed to fostering an environment of inclusion, Edaville offers quiet spaces equipped with weighted blankets, soft toys including books, puzzles and mega blocks. Also available are sensory-conscious bathrooms specially designed with oversized changing tables and manual flush settings, faucets and paper towel dispensers.

"When making sensory friendly adjustments to the park, and planning events and programs for Autism Awareness Month, we spoke with educators, teachers, physical therapists, occupational therapists and parents of autistic children to make sure their needs were covered."

Beyond April, May 2017 events include a Magical Mother's Day complete with a voucher for a free family photo. Also in May is Military Appreciation Weekend with free admission for all military personnel and 50% off for their families. For visitors wanting to get up close and personal with the park's 23 life-size dinosaurs, the wait will be over on May 20 when Dino Land opens for the season.
