Edutaining Africa - Phonics School & Little Poets Cartoon Series to Broadcast in Africa
LONDON, August 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
London based edutainment studio EnablinGenius Ltd., has entered a licensing agreement with Ubongo to air Phonics School and Little Poets series in Africa.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ubongo, whose TV and radio programs have a weekly audience of 5.1 million households across Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, will add Phonics School and Little Poets to their programming on TBC1 Tanzania.
Nisha Ligon, Ubongo's CEO says: "There is a tremendous opportunity for impact in education in Africa through edutainment. Many of the 440 million under-15's on the continent are missing out on chance for a quality education. Delivering edutainment via TV or other technologies already in homes is exciting and helps to address the attainment gap".
"Ubongo, through its weekly programming blocks on multiple TV channels has built a successful TV franchise and has shown a clear audience for edutainment. We are delighted to be partnering with such a strong partner and very much look forward to the opportunity in Africa", said Hana Rolles, co-founder of enablinGenius.
Nisha Ligon adds: "We are very excited about adding quality programming like Little Poets & Phonics School to our line up. Parents and teachers are looking for high quality titles that enhance home and after-class learning for children."
PHONICS SCHOOL tells the story of Phonikers - the letters of the alphabet - as they learn to master their natural powers to 'transformagix' into anything beginning with their sounds and change back by tracing their shapes. The series teaches letter recognition, letter-sound association and shape tracing for pre-readers and builds fundamental phonics skills - phonics is the method by which children are taught to read and write in most English speaking countries.
LITTLE POETS tells the story of Sam, Mr. Pirate and Blu and their love of words. The series promotes early literacy concepts and takes children on an adventure exploring words, literacy and poetry (nursery rhymes).
The PHONICS SCHOOL & LITTLE POETS series have been licensed by BBC Worldwide learning.
The edutainment industry is an emerging genre, with specific emphasis on combining entertainment & education to promote better learning outcomes.
