EFCA Commends Massachusetts Lawmakers in Asking House Leadership for Action on Pro-Solar Legislation
BOSTON, March 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Following is a statement from Carine Dumit, of the Energy Freedom Coalition of America (EFCA), recognizing 100 members of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for asking House leadership to support legislation to continue strong solar net metering policies in a letter released today.
"Massachusetts historically has had a strong solar industry, thanks to a business friendly environment and policies that have enabled the industry to create over 15,000 local jobs, customer choice, new economic development, and clean energy. However, that progress is at risk as we face legislative uncertainty over the future of net metering and the industry's future in the state. Today, we are encouraged by a letter sent by 100 members of the House of Representatives – over three-fifths of the House – asking House leadership and the full legislature to swiftly pass legislation to lift the cap on net metering and allow the industry to continue to do business. We appreciate the willingness of these members, especially Reps. Cory Atkins and James O'Day, and early signatories Reps. Jennifer E. Benson, Kay Khan, Smitty Pignatelli, Marjorie C. Decker, and Ruth B. Balser, to step forward and speak out on behalf of the people of Massachusetts."
