Eggo® Sparks Kitchen Creativity With Eight Weeks Of Waffle Wednesdays

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- During the fall entertaining season – including football parties, Halloween gatherings and potlucks – Eggo® is inspiring families to think outside-the-box and submit unique waffle recipes in The Great Eggo Waffle Off! contest. From now through November 4, 2013, consumers can enter their creations – for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert – on the Eggo Facebook page for a chance to win $5,000. 

"Throughout the year, we've seen some very creative and versatile Eggo waffle recipes from our fans, and we're excited to celebrate these innovations during the Great Eggo Waffle Off!" said Kathleen Piper, Kellogg Company marketing director. "As we head into the season of fall and holiday entertaining, we are looking forward to seeing all of the fun, seasonal recipes from waffle lovers around the country during this contest."

Eggo fans can submit their waffle recipes through the Eggo Facebook page, in the categories of breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner or dessert. Each entry will be judged on originality, taste appeal and visual appeal as depicted in the entry photo. Entry is open to U.S. residents, aged 18 and up, and submissions are accepted through November 4, 2013. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000, two runners-up will each receive $2,500 and eight weekly winners will receive a year's supply of Eggo waffles.

To spark imagination and inspire creativity, Eggo's Chief Waffle Officers, a talented group of mom and food bloggers, are starting a tasty new trend – "Waffle Wednesdays" – by creating waffle recipes each Wednesday for eight weeks beginning September 11, 2013. On each Waffle Wednesday, the Chief Waffle Officer will introduce a new dish reflecting a seasonal theme, with the recipes featured at www.facebook.com/Eggo until October 30, 2013.
