EmblemHealth Celebrates its 10th Annual Heroes of Labor Awards

This year's event honored the leadership of New York City's unions and their hard work to keep the city that never sleeps running throughout the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

EmblemHealth proudly honored four labor leaders this year who helped keep New York City operating during the pandemic and acted as beacons to guide the city through one of its greatest times of need. They are:

• Tony Utano, President, Transport Workers Union Local 100
• Laura Carbonell Monarque, Producing Artistic Director, Working Theater
• Henry Garrido, Executive Director, District Council 37
• Harry Nespoli, President, Teamsters Local 831, Uniformed Sanitationmen's Association

The event, which began in 2012, acknowledges all unions in New York City, including municipal labor and workers in the theater sector, who sustained the city's preeminent entertainment industry despite venue and set closures during the height of the pandemic.
