eMeter Honors JEA with 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award
Award given to JEA for pioneering use of EnergyIP platform to move from automated meter reading to operating smart grid; JEA supports 417,000 electric and some 300,000 water meters with eMeter
SAN MATEO, Calif. and JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- eMeter Corporation, a leader in Smart Grid management software, and JEA, the largest municipal electric utility in Florida, today announced that JEA is the recipient of eMeter's 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.
eMeter announced JEA's award at the 2011 eMeter Leadership Conference, taking place May 9-11, 2011 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. The conference brings together industry leaders in Smart Meter data management to discuss current trends and best practices, share ideas and experiences, and connect with like-minded professionals.
eMeter has recognized JEA for its formative use of eMeter's EnergyIP Meter Data Management platform.
JEA deployed eMeter to extend the value of its smart metering investments to move from automated meter reading to smart grid services. This meant the ability to provide customer care consultants with instant access to current usage history, automate meter operations to reduce field service costs and enhance outage management capabilities.
To do this, JEA turned to eMeter's EnergyIP platform as a centralized usage data repository and foundation for its smart grid applications. The platform integrated with JEA's enterprise systems including customer information (CIS), mobile work management (WMS), outage management (OMS), handheld meter reading, transformer load management and distribution planning systems.
"We have partnered with eMeter for years now and they have been with us every step of the way as we have built out our smart grid vision," said Jim Dickenson, chief executive officer at JEA. "The recognition for this Lifetime Achievement Award from an industry leader like eMeter is indicative of the fact that we are delivering on our goal to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve."
With eMeter in place, JEA is now able to create a customer service portal for near real-time customer consumption data while also harnessing data from virtually all areas of operation for better operating visibility and decision making.
JEA's partnership with eMeter to build out its smart grid has delivered performance gains ranging from higher customer satisfaction to quicker inquiry response times to reduced field service costs.
"For many years, eMeter has been proud to work with a visionary organization like JEA," said Gary Bloom, chief executive officer at eMeter. "It was evident to us years ago that they possessed a very forward-thinking approach to managing a utility, making them a very commendable winner of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award."
