ATLANTA, March 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Who couldn't use a little more energy?
That's the message behind "Energize Your World," a new promotion launching in March in celebration of National Peanut Month. Throughout the spring, consumers will have the opportunity to win a 2012 Ford Focus and hundreds of other prizes.
"Peanuts have more than 30 nutrients and phytonutrients and are packed with more energy boosting protein than any nut," said Raffaela Marie Fenn, president and managing director, National Peanut Board. "Whether you're a busy mom, student or executive, a handful of peanuts or a serving of peanut butter can be an easy and tasty way to sustain energy throughout the day."
In addition to the fuel-efficient 2012 Ford Focus, consumers who sign up at PeanutsEnergize.com will be eligible to win a family vacation to Six Flags and instant prizes ― from mp3 players, t-shirts to gift cards to peanut lover prize packs. The program is sponsored by the National Peanut Board, and presented by Hampton Farms, Peanut Butter & Co. and Planters.
"Energize Your World" also spotlights America's peanut farmers' commitment to sustainable agriculture and local communities.
"Peanut growers take very seriously their responsibility of providing quality, nutrititous and flavorful products in ways that are respectful of the land we farm and the communities we serve," said Cindy Belch, a North Carolina farmer and National Peanut Board chair.
Also as part of the integrated campaign, America's peanut farmers will bring the flavor and fuel to travelers and commuters at Grand Central Terminal in New York City. On March 14-15, they will be on hand to pass out peanut product samples and spread the message of how peanuts provide sustainable energy. From New York, peanut farmers will travel to Six Flags parks in Georgia, Texas and Southern California.
