Energy Independence and Micro Grid Opportunity Focus of Second Annual Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Summit

AUSTIN, Texas, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- In partnership with the State of Hawai'i, the Clean Technology and Sustainable Industries Organization (CTSI) will coordinate the second annual Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Summit and Expo in Honolulu from August 30 through September 2.

As an island state, Hawai'i's expedited need for renewable energy and self-sufficiency makes it a perfect location for innovators to develop and implement new technologies on the state's microgrids. Additionally, its abundant wind, solar, and ocean resources provide a unique opportunity for partnerships between industry, government and power companies to demonstrate project success.

To showcase the growing early clean technology success and opportunities in Hawai'i, the Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Summit program focuses on topics such as electric vehicle transportation, grid integration of renewable energy, energy security, efficiency, regulatory frameworks, and financing of new renewable energy technologies.

Top-level government leaders scheduled to speak at the Summit include Linda Lingle, Governor of the State of Hawai'i; U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye; Patricia Hoffman, U.S. Department of Energy; Jerry Ou, Taiwan Director General of Energy; Governor Luo Baoming from Hainan Province, China; Thomas Hicks, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy; and over 100 other top energy officials representing organizations such as: Hawaiian Electric Company, Nissan, Tesla, Lockheed Martin, Siemens Energy, U.S. Department of Navy, Honeywell, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Hawai'i Public Utilities Commission, SAIC, Johnson Controls, Chevron, Sandia National Laboratories and the U.S. Department of Energy.
