PHILADELPHIA, March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Energy Plus Holdings, one of the nation's fastest-growing energy companies, today announced that it ranked as the number one small company on Top Workplaces 2011, an extensive effort to uncover the best employers in the Philadelphia region, from the point of view of workers themselves. Spearheaded by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and, the annual list recognizes 100 employers in the region, with rankings determined by employee survey responses.

Founded in Philadelphia in 2007, Energy Plus is now one of the region's fastest-growing companies, serving 150,000 customers in seven states. In just three years, Energy Plus' ranks have grown to 140 employees, the majority of whom are based in the Company's recently expanded headquarters, which is located in the University City Science Center and includes a dedicated customer call center.

"We are very proud to have earned such a high ranking on the prestigious Top Workplaces list for 2011, and the fact that the ranking is based on our own employees' feedback makes the recognition even more gratifying," said Kevin Kleinschmidt, President of Energy Plus. "Our entire team has put a huge amount of effort into making Energy Plus a great place to work and this is also a testament to our ongoing efforts."

In order to compile Top Workplaces 2011, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and enlisted WorkplaceDynamics L.L.C. to ask employees to rate their companies and their bosses by responding to statements regarding company culture, growth, interoffice relationships, and salary. Ultimately, close to 500 companies in the Philadelphia area were surveyed. Ninety percent of Energy Plus employees participated in the survey, which is above the average response rate of 56 percent across all participating companies.
