ENR NY Presents Sixth Annual MTA MWDBE Conference

NEW YORK, April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Governor Andrew Cuomo recently increased the goal for MWBE state contracting utilization to 30 percent, representing the highest such target in the nation for any state government.  To assist eligible firms in maximizing these opportunities, ENR New York (http://newyork.construction.com/), in partnership with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), will hold the MTA MWDBE Conference at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City on May 5, 2015.  To register, visit http://construction.com/events/2015/enr-mta/register.asp. 

The sixth annual event, themed "Creating Opportunities Through Innovation & Change," explores the MTA's programs in support of MWDBEs, which enable eligible firms to develop and grow within the construction industry, and establish stable, long-term business relationships with the MTA.  The conference agenda will focus on MWDBEs, the Small Business Development Training Program, updates to the 2015-2019 Capital Plan, success stories from MWDBEs, ongoing Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, and innovative, new programs including IT, Legal, Architecture and Engineering.

The event will include opening remarks from the MTA's Vice Chairman, The Honorable Fernando Ferrer. The conference also includes an optional pre-event workshop, "How to Become Certified as a DBE," presented by the MTA's Danny Camacho, Mgr.
