LEWISVILLE, Texas, March 23, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Enrollment for school year 2016-17 has started at Texas Virtual Academy (TXVA) for students in grades 3-12 . TXVA, a Responsive Education Solutions (ResponsiveEd®) charter school in partnership with K12, offers online instruction, hands-on curriculum and the support of state-licensed teachers to create an individualized education.
"We pride ourselves on our ability to provide students with a choice when it comes to the type of education they receive," said Sara Baker, head of school of Texas Virtual Academy. "TXVA is an ideal choice for families who are interested in getting actively involved in their children's education."
The online curriculum used at TXVA is rigorous and engaging, including courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as over 160 elective and Advanced Placement® courses for high school students. College- or career-minded students can choose from a broad range of profession-focused courses in order to gain a competitive edge for the future, discover their path after high school or explore a possible college major.
Texas Virtual Academy is dually-accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Southern Association of College and Schools Council (SACS), an accrediting division of AdvancedEd. All coursework is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and students are provided with an individualized curriculum and tools they need to succeed—in school and beyond.
Courses are delivered online with the support of a state-certified teacher and students receive a diploma at graduation. In 2015, TXVA graduates headed to prestigious colleges and universities such as Baylor University, University of Texas, Texas A&M and Loyola Marymount.
In addition to the challenging and robust academic program, the school provides an active, supportive school community and a range of extracurricular activities including student clubs, field trips, and social gatherings.
"TXVA lets me learn at my own pace. Now my grades are better and I have more time to talk to my teachers one-on-one," said Jason Quinn, a student at TXVA. "Not only am I succeeding in school, but I have time to spend time focusing on what I love outside of school."
During the enrollment period TXVA will be conducting online and in-person information sessions throughout the state. Interested families are encouraged to attend to meet teachers, staff and other families and to learn more about how TXVA is helping kids reach their true, personal potential, the award-winning online curriculum provided by K12 Inc., and what parent resources are available to support interested Learning Coaches.
