Entenmann's Rich Frosted Donut Celebrates His 40th Birthday And 400,000,000th Rich Frosted Donut Coming Off The Production Line

"I can't believe I turn forty years old today!" said Rich, the frosted donut created by Entenmann's Bakery. "I am so thrilled to think that I have brought delight and mouthwatering enjoyment to millions of fans over the last four decades and look forward to doing that for years to come!"

Rich was created in 1972 in Entenmann's Bay Shore Bakery and after 32 joyous years in Long Island, Rich decided it was time for a move and landed in the Entenmann's bakery in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  Throughout his life, Rich has always been a popular donut; in fact, he has been Entenmann's number one seller since his birth.  He is also the Proud Papa of various types of rich frosted Entenmann's donuts, such as the Rich Frosted Pop'Ems and Rich Frosted Mini Donuts.  Today -- Rich's 40^th birthday -- also marks the 400,000,000 Rich Frosted Donut to come off the production line in his home of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

To celebrate these exciting milestones, Entenmann's held a birthday party for Rich, who was on-hand, in their Carlisle bakery with a Rich Frosted 40^th Birthday cake for all employees to enjoy and presented Perry Heath, President of the Borough of Carlisle, with the very valued 'Donut to the City.'  Entenmann's also received a Proclamation from the city of Carlisle in recognition of their extraordinary achievement of 400,000,000 Rich Frosted donuts. 

Rich Frosted Finally Reveals The "Mrs." On Facebook

Despite always being in the spotlight, Rich had been able to keep much of his personal life a secret. Rich and Entenmann's felt that celebrating a 40^th Birthday is a major milestone, and no longer wanted to keep Mrs. Rich Frosted under wraps. Rich announced today that the donut he has been sharing his life with is Ms. Crumb.

"Like they say 'behind every great man is a great woman' and I wanted to share that Ms. Crumb was always there by my side supporting me. We have been so happy together all of these years, so it felt great to be able to share our relationship with my fans. I tried keeping our relationship out of the limelight, but so many of my fans have shared huge life events with me, so I wanted to share something personal with them and felt there was no better time with all of these grand celebrations in honor of my birthday," Rich stated.

Prior to the unveiling, Rich and Entenmann's Bakery decided to get the fans in on the excitement and ran a Facebook survey for consumers to vote on who they believed was "Mrs. Rich Frosted." The choices included Ms. Glazed, Ms. Crumb Topped, Ms. Plain and Ms. Powdered. The birthday celebration coincided with an Entenmann's 'Rich 40 for 40' on-pack promotion that started in mid-January and will be ending in mid-April.  Consumers are invited to enter weekly giveaways on www.facebook.com/Entenmanns where Entenmann's will be giving away 40 birthday prize packages a week.
