Enterprise Rent-A-Car Labor Day Rental Estimates Up More Than 25 Percent

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- If you plan to be driving this Labor Day weekend, you'll have company, as more people will be renting cars for the holiday, according to early reservation rental data from Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood reservations are up more than 25 percent in comparison to this time last year, the data shows. And that's on top of 25 percent year-over-year increases in reservations since 2010, Enterprise said. Enterprise gathered information from its 5,500 neighborhood locations. 

The Enterprise data is consistent with AAA's recent report, 2013 AAA Labor Day Travel Forecast, which shows a significant uptick in travel for the Labor Day holiday.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Labor Day data from 2011 and 2012 reflects economy cars, compact cars and minivans were the most popular car categories. Additionally, the average traveler is driving at least 25 miles further than in years past, according to 2011-12 Enterprise Rent-A-Car numbers.

"People traveling for the Labor Day holiday are in search of better fuel efficiency or more room while also looking to save wear and tear on their current daily commuter vehicles," said Steve Short, vice president, Enterprise Rent-A-Car. "With the average age of today's cars coming in at more than 11 years, people are renting more dependable cars that provide vacation peace of mind." 

For those in search of a post-holiday getaway, Enterprise will begin offering its $9.99 per day special weekend rate on September 5. The $9.99 offer is good through May 21, 2014, at the majority of Enterprise's neighborhood locations.
