Envision Technology Advisors Awarded Qualified Vendor Status for RIDE's Wireless Classroom Initiative

PAWTUCKET, R.I., April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Pawtucket, Rhode Island based Envision Technology Advisors was recently named a Qualified Vendor for the Rhode Island Department of Education's (RIDE) Wireless Classroom Initiative. This initiative will provide $20 million to expand wireless access to classrooms across Rhode Island over the next two years.

To receive this Qualified Vendor status, Envision was required to demonstrate their ability to conduct site reviews and surveys for RI's school buildings, purchase the necessary equipment needed for these projects, and provide installation services and support. The solutions Envision has been qualified to install and support include Cisco, Aruba Networks, HP, Juniper, and Extreme Networks and they are this initiative's only named vendor approved to procure Dell, SonicWall, Netgear, and Buffalo Networks infrastructure.

A recent survey of RI classrooms' access to technology found that only 23.8 percent of those classrooms have 100 percent wireless access. While most classrooms did have access to the Internet, that access was typically limited to just the teacher's computer and students' access to computers through labs or other devices covered only 7 percent of classrooms. The Wireless Classroom Initiative will significantly increase connectivity and access for public school systems and state-operated character schools.
