EPA Names Brandywine Realty Trust 2013 ENERGY STAR(R) Partner Of The Year

RADNOR, Pa., March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Brandywine Realty Trust (NYSE: BDN) announced today that The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized the Company as a 2013 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for strategically managing and improving the energy efficiency of its entire portfolio. Through its partnership with the ENERGY STAR program, Brandywine Realty Trust has improved its energy performance, reduced consumption, saved money, and helped to protect the environment for future generations.

Key accomplishments of Brandywine's award-winning energy management program include:

• 91 properties (15.8 million square feet) have earned the Energy Star Label
• 52.1% of the square footage in Brandywine's 221 owned properties has earned the Label at least once
• In aggregate, including re-certifications, Brandywine has earned 132 Labels for our owned and managed properties
• Labeled properties have an average Energy Star score of 81.7, translating to annual energy cost savings of more than $9 million, compared to general market costs if the buildings' average score was 50
• Avoiding an estimated 277.5 million kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to taking 199,000 cars off the road
