NEW YORK, May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FamilyFun magazine was named a winner – twice! — in the ninth annual American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) Best Cover Contest. FamilyFun's August 2014 issue cover took home both "Best Cover" and "Readers' Choice" in the Family and Home category — one of only two titles that won both a Readers' and Editors' choice award.
"For our August 2014 issue, we commissioned photographer Sabrina Helas to shoot a story on family road trips, and when her images came in, we knew we had a strong cover," said Ann Hallock, Editor-in-chief of FamilyFun magazine. "This shot of 6-year-old Isaac is filled with the kind of joyful, authentic details we love, and the moment she captured sums up what our brand is all about: making happy memories with your kids."
"We're thrilled that the August 2014 cover resonated with both editors and readers alike," said Carey Witmer, President of Meredith Parents Network. "Our readers are passionate about experiencing parenthood to the fullest and we strive to creatively portray that unbridled joy of fun and family within the magazine, starting with the cover shot."
More than 100 print magazines submitted 270 covers to compete in the ASME Award's 10 categories this year. The Best Cover Award winners were chosen by a judging group composed of leading editors, art directors and photography editors who chose three finalists, including the winner, in each category. The Readers' Choice Awards were determined by the most Facebook likes on each cover image.
