Fattah Announces $1.5 Million in Research Grants to Philadelphia Institutions

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), the leading Democratic appropriator for scientific research and the National Science Foundation (NSF), announced today that NSF has awarded five grants, totaling more than $1.5 million in awards for research institutions in Philadelphia. The NSF grants have been awarded to the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

The grant funding – three to Penn, one to Drexel, and one to CHOP—will go to projects focused on computer and information science, bio-nanotechnology, the effects of linguistics on higher education, digestion and immunity, and cell biology.
