Fattah to be Honored in Philadelphia by National Association of State Head Injury Administrators

WASHINGTON, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02), architect of the Fattah Neuroscience Initiative will deliver a keynote address tomorrow, October 28, in Philadelphia to 100 key State and federal government employees and stakeholders who are responsible for administering brain injury prevention and rehabilitation programs and services throughout the United States. The address is part of the National Association of State Head Injury Administrator's (NASHIA) 25^th Annual Conference: "State of the States in Head Injury Meeting." The group is also honoring the Congressman for his Congressional leadership on neuroscience, and role in making the United States' BRAIN Initiative a reality. NASHIA and its partner organizations work to plan and administer public programs and services for individuals with brain injury and their families.

Created three years ago, the Fattah Neuroscience Initiative has sought to prioritize neuroscience in the United States, increase public-private partnerships around brain research, and expand research collaboration between countries across the globe. The Initiative is credited with forming the Interagency Working Group on Neuroscience (IWGN) housed at the White House, which was an impetus for the BRAIN Initiative. Congressman Fattah has worked with universities and research centers throughout Pennsylvania in order to promote neuroscience as a federal priority and initiate groundbreaking partnerships in neuroscience research.
