LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Bass Entertainment announced today that HeadShop has been forced to make a last-minute lead cast change due to Kris Marshall's (Death at a Funeral, Love Actually) unfortunate accident. Sean Maguire (Once Upon a Time, Meet the Spartans) will be joining the HeadShop cast, playing the role of Grant. The production is helmed by Emmy Award-nominated and NAACP Image Award-winning Writer-Director Kim Bass.
The production just wrapped in Los Angeles, but will resume production in San Francisco and Oakland, where the story is set, later this month.
The feature-length comedy is adorned by such a notable cast including Nicole Ari Parker (Boogie Nights, Soul Food), Loretta Devine (The Carmichael Show, Crash), Sean Maguire (Once Upon a Time, Meet the Spartans), Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly, Crank), Kimberly Elise (John Q, Hit the Floor), Deon Cole (Black-ish, Angie Tribeca), Michael Jai White (Spawn, Black Dynamite) and Marla Gibbs (Madea's Witness Protection, The Jeffersons). Writer-Director Kim Bass said, "We all wish Mr. Marshall a speedy recovery from his injuries. We are also grateful to Mr. Maguire for jumping into the role so quickly."
HeadShop is a magical urban tale about a beautiful psychologist, based in San Francisco, who decides to end a stalled romance with her longtime, high-profile, psychiatrist boyfriend/business partner. She moves on with her life by opening her own private practice in a vacant, street-front office space in the middle of a small commercial block located across the bay in Oakland. The move turns the predominately African-American and psychologically ignored neighborhood on its emotional ear.
