NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Corporate Insight announced the winners of its 2017 Monitor Awards, recognizing digital innovation and best practices within the financial services and healthcare industries. Now in its 20^th year, the Monitor Awards program issues gold, silver and bronze medals, highlighting significant advances in online and mobile offerings in the past year.

As part of the Monitor research services, Corporate Insight analysts use live accounts at each healthcare and financial institution covered, identifying customer-centric improvements and trends in real time. The Monitor Awards are a culmination of a year's worth of website tracking and user experience assessment. The following is a summary of the most notable trends from 2017:

Wellness programs began to take shape at an institutional level across industries.

Wellness became a major cross-industry focus in 2017. For example, three Healthcare Monitor firms launched new health and wellness campaigns in 2017—UnitedHealthcare, Humana and Aetna—that gamify and reward healthy behaviors.

Since financial health is an important aspect of overall wellness, record keepers continued to intensity their focus on promoting financially savvy decisions. Eleven Retirement Plan Monitor coverage firms added new financial wellness resources in 2017, including interactive lessons, webinars, videos, worksheets and an online game.

Mobile platforms continue to grow.

Mobile continued to trend in financial services, with 10 leading defined contribution plan record keepers introducing new mobile apps or enhancing their existing platforms. The most notable mobile enhancements pertained to profile management features and transaction capabilities.

Corporate Insight tracked several noteworthy mobile features in the property and casualty insurance space that capitalized on emerging technology such as artificial intelligence, voice assistance and chat bots. While only two P&C Insurance Monitor firms created apps for Amazon Alexa devices in 2016, this progress doubled in 2017.

A number of firms in the brokerage industry improved their mobile apps in 2017. e-Monitor coverage firms aimed to streamline mobile usability by updating notification and alert capabilities.
