FirstMerit Appoints Goodall Vice Chairman and Chief Commercial Banking Officer of FirstMerit Corporation

AKRON, Ohio, June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstMerit Corporation (Nasdaq: FMER) announces the appointment of David G. Goodall as Vice Chairman and Chief Commercial Banking Officer of FirstMerit Corporation, effective June 1, 2015.

Goodall will continue to have direct oversight of and responsibility for Commercial and Business Banking for FirstMerit and will continue to report to Paul G. Greig, Chairman, President and CEO of FirstMerit.

"Since David joined FirstMerit in 2009, first as Executive Vice President of Specialty Lending, then later to Senior Executive Vice President, Commercial Banking, the organic growth of our commercial segment has been significant throughout our expanded footprint," said Greig. Goodall has 28 years of commercial banking experience. Prior to joining FirstMerit in 2009, he was employed by National City for 12 years, most recently as President and CEO of National City Business Credit, Inc., a subsidiary of National City Bank. 

Goodall received his MBA from New York University and has a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin. He serves as board member of Case Western Reserve University's Corporate Visiting Committee and Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU) – The Center for Nonprofit Excellence. Goodall resides in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
