FirstMerit Names DuHamel as Deputy Chief Financial Officer

AKRON, Ohio, May 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstMerit Corporation (Nasdaq: FMER) announces the appointment of Mark N. DuHamel as Executive Vice President, Deputy Chief Financial Officer. DuHamel has served as the company's treasurer since joining FirstMerit in 1996.

DuHamel's responsibilities will include oversight of FirstMerit's accounting and finance functions, investor relations, strategic planning, corporate development and capital planning. He will work closely with Terrence E. Bichsel, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, in leading these key functions as part of the company's ongoing succession planning process.

DuHamel has 32 years of banking and financial industry experience. Prior to joining FirstMerit, he served in a variety of positions at First NH Bank, Sendero Corporation and First Vermont Bank. He earned both his bachelor's degree in Physiology and MBA in Finance from Michigan State University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He resides in Stow, Ohio.
