Fleming | Nolen | Jez, L.L.P. Files Petition Over Essure® Birth Control

HOUSTON, April 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 13, 2016, Fleming | Nolen | Jez, L.L.P. filed a complaint (case number 1622-CC01049) seeking judgment against Bayer Corp., the manufacturer of Essure® birth control, over allegations of injuries sustained as a result of the prescribed and implanted product. The petition includes numerous plaintiffs from various areas throughout the United States.

Essure® is a Class III medical device designed as a form of permanent birth control. The two coils are inserted into the fallopian tubes and expand. Earlier this year, the Food and Drug Administration made the decision to require a black-box warning on Essure® after further investigation into the device.

The petition claims seven causes of action against Essure®.
