FLYING PIG GSE AND HEVO COLLABORATE TO ADVANCE WIRELESS CHARGING FOR NEXT-GENERATION GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT

Collaboration combines HEVO's Rezonant™ wireless charging technology with Flying Pig GSE's decades of aviation experience to advance charging infrastructure for electric and autonomous airport operations

BROOKLYN, N.Y. and SPOKANE, Wash., Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Flying Pig GSE LLC, an aviation Ground Support Equipment company focused on electrification and advanced airport technologies, and HEVO Inc., a New York-based leading developer and Tier 1 supplier of patented Rezonant™ wireless charging hardware and the Journey™ software platform, today announced a strategic collaboration to advance wireless charging applications for electric and autonomous Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

The companies will combine HEVO's wireless charging hardware, power electronics, controls and software with Flying Pig GSE's aviation operating experience, customer relationships and market development capabilities to identify and develop applications where automated charging can improve fleet utilization, simplify charging operations and support increasingly automated airport environments.

Airports present a compelling use case for wireless charging. Ground support vehicles frequently operate within defined areas and return repeatedly to gates, staging areas, loading zones and other predictable locations. Strategically placed wireless charging infrastructure could allow electric GSE to receive energy during these natural dwell periods without requiring an operator to connect and disconnect a charging cable.

This approach could also influence future vehicle design. More frequent charging opportunities may allow certain GSE applications to operate with smaller onboard batteries depending on vehicle duty cycles and operational requirements. Reducing battery capacity can potentially reduce vehicle weight and cost while improving energy efficiency and asset utilization.

For autonomous GSE, automated charging becomes even more important. A vehicle capable of operating without a driver still requires an automated way to replenish its energy. Integrating wireless charging with vehicle controls and intelligent energy management creates a pathway for equipment to charge as part of its normal operating cycle with minimal human intervention.

The collaboration will initially emphasize opportunities where HEVO's automated wireless charging technology can provide measurable operational or economic benefits to airports, fleet operators and GSE manufacturers.

From Plug-In Charging to Invisible Charging
The long-term opportunity is to make charging something an operator or autonomous vehicle does not need to think about.
Rather than removing equipment from service specifically to charge, electric GSE could receive energy while already stopped during normal operations. Rather than relying on drivers to connect charging cables, the charging process could occur automatically. As autonomous airport vehicles emerge, wireless charging could provide an energy infrastructure capable of operating alongside them without adding another manual process.

HEVO and Flying Pig GSE believe this transition from plug-in charging toward increasingly automated and ultimately "invisible" charging could become an important component of the next generation of electric airport infrastructure.
